The home of Poloafrica is Uitgedacht Farm, situated at the head of a picturesque valley, set in the foothills of the spectacular Maluti mountains in the Eastern Free State. The farmhouse is approached by a tree-lined drive and the views from it are magnificent. Walking or riding up into the hills affords wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. It is a tranquil haven to enjoy riding, fishing, hiking, sketching, birdwatching, fossil hunting or just relaxing into life on the farm. The setting for the international size boarded and irrigated polo field is one of the most beautiful in the country, with a bass-filled dam at the southern end and views of mountains to the north. The field is smooth with well-knit grass coverage and consequently plays fast with minimal chopping up. The farm also has one of the few full sized enclosed sand arenas in Africa, as well as a charmingly designed wooden horse, a schooling ring and various exercise tracks. There are well schooled polo ponies to suit all levels of player and also a small breeding herd. Poloafrica’s chief coach is Gavin Chaplin, of international renown, who is ably assisted by the Poloafrica players and pony makers that he has trained. In choosing to holiday with us you will be supporting the charitable efforts of the Poloafrica Development Trust, which is a sport and educational programme unique in Africa and a force for good in the local community.
